This is a placeholder for the work to come, refining the environment around the desk and then materials and lighting. Matching that on-set lighting will be a fun challenge. The desk geo is final (ie proportions and details sorted) and the computer will be the biggest test of the space next.
A key challenge for this is that the desks, and much of the environment set dressing etc, was either converted for other use and ultimately destroyed, or flat out destroyed. This work is primarily from screencaps and a lot of perspective drawing ;-)
While no great science fiction, Space:1999 has always been fascinating to me, Season 1 that is. It seems to want to confront the question of what happens to highly trained and specialized individuals who are forced to live just beyond their ken, just beyond the reaches of their training and expectations/reality. Too soon, they take on the next logical step in human advancement, the exploration of deep space, and circumstances that they are not prepared for. Too 'metaphysical' at best for my tastes, but a worthy question.
